Technical (Core) Competencies for RICS APC

Technical competencies relate directly to the candidate’s chosen APC pathway and focus on the practical and theoretical skills necessary in their specific area of surveying. For example, a candidate on the Quantity Surveying pathway will have technical competencies like Quantification and Costing, Procurement and Tendering and Contract Practice. These competencies are assessed at Levels 1, 2, and 3, with increasing complexity and responsibility. Level 1 focuses on knowledge, Level 2 on application, and Level 3 on providing well-reasoned advice to clients. Demonstrating proficiency in technical competencies shows that the candidate can operate effectively and independently in their professional role.
